As part of the Gyeonggi International Ceramix Biennale 2011, the 6th International Competition will once again be held.
First offered in 2001, the International Competition has been a dynamic forum where the latest issues facing contemporary ceramics are explored.

This year the International Competition has been substantially revamped. As always, we will be exploring the intrinsic value that ceramics offer, however in 2011 we introduce the concept of CeraMIX, which encompasses numerous materials, techniques and even other genres (such as metal or glass) used with ceramics. In addition, we are looking to move beyond the standard dichotomy between the categories of ceramic design and art, and attempt to reinterpret the traditional values of ceramics.

  • There is no separate theme regarding entries to the International Competition.
  • Design, art, as well as reexaminations of traditional genres are all welcome.
  • We welcome entries that include other materials/techniques from other artistic genres, but the majority of the works should be ceramic.
  • Each entrant may submit up to three entries.
  • The competition is open to individual artists and groups. There are no nationality or age restrictions.
  • A single entry should be – when displayed – within these specified dimensions: 250cm (width); 250cm (depth); 250cm (height).
  • Works must have been created within the last three years and must not have been entered into other competitions.
  • All documents and the proceedings shall be in Korean and English only.

  • The entrant should pack his/her work with special care to prevent damage in shipment to KOCEF, and submit a condition report on the work before such shipping. KOCEF shall not be responsible for damage to the work in shipment from the entrant.
  • Overseas shipment of the work must be door-to-door by a shipping company that specializes in the handling of artworks. If shipping is not made door-to-door, additional costs such as a customs clearance fee and forwarding charge to the submittal office (from the airport or other port of entry) may be incurred. KOCEF will not be responsible for such costs.
  • Works sent from overseas must be insured from the day of departure to the day of arrival at the submittal office (Yeoju World Ceramic Livingware Gallery).
  • * Entrants should indicate the insurance value of each entry so that KOCEF can appropriately insure it.
  • Submitted materials – aside from the works of art – will not be returned.
  • At the final selection, all prizewinners will be determined. The jury may not award all entries that make it to the final round of screening. In this case, these works will be returned by KOCEF.
